What is KB Holidays?
What the heck is a fic exchange?
It’s like a Secret Santa only with fanwork.
How does it work?
In October, over 80 people signed up to participate, leaving prompts for fic or art they really wanted. Then I assigned each of them another person to write or draw for and they worked diligently for the next two months to make the best holiday gift they could. They’ve sent us their completed assignments and now it’s time to post them.
From December 11th to December 31st, we’ll be posting fic and art four times a day, with the exception of Christmas day and New Years Eve which will only have three posts. Posts will be staggard throughout the day with varied fic lengths so as to not overwhelm readers. We’ll be posting to both LJ and Tumblr, with 10k+ fics being hosted on Tumblr and the rest hosted to LJ.
Each fic and art piece will be posted anonymously and the recipients will not know who made their gift until January 3rd, 2012, when we reveal them all.
Did you write/draw all of these?
Nope! Jo (bookworm221b) and Shauna (Kurtsturbation) did participate, but the rest of the fics and art were lovingly created by 80 other participants. Who wrote and drew what will be revealed on January 12th!
Can I participate?
It’s too late to sign up for the 2011 holiday season, but keep a eye out for future exchanges and challenges!
How can I rec x fic/art if I don’t know who wrote it?
We suggest saying that it’s by an unrevealed author/artist and mention that KB Holidays will be revealing it on January 3rd, 2012.
How can I make sure that I see every fic and art piece you post for this exchange?
Follow us on Tumblr or Livejournal or both! We’ll be cross-posting everything to both places. Don’t forget to spread the holiday cheer by reblogging and commenting on the things you love!
Tell me more about the hosts!
Shauna has hosted three exchanges prior to this and is an organizational freak. Jo is her Livejournal liason and apprentice.
